Although you could choose to buy both a chair and tackle box sepatrately, the convenience of having your tackle close to hand is what makes a seat box a must buy for most anglers.

Koala Products KS7 System 7 Drawer Seat Box
Koala Products are a brand with a good reputation for providing high-quality fishing gear at reasonable prices. The Koala Products KS7 is one of a number of seat boxes in the KS series and one that I would have no problem with recommending at all.
In terms of storage it comes with 5 front drawers and 2 side drawers as well as a deceptively large amount of space in the base module. With a depth of 4cm the drawers have plenty of room for a decent amount of accessories and the base module can easily cater for larger items such as reels.
Made from quality components the KS7 really does offer great value for money. To reduce weight aluminium has being used where possible and with dimensions of W58 X D37 X H48cm and an overall weight of 8Kg it is actually quite light.
Another positive is the leg system, which features large hand wheels that make height adjustment a simple and quick process. It also comes with a padded shoulder strap for those that don’t have a fishing trolley.
All in all the KS7 is a great little seat box at a very reasonable price.

Match Station GTI Sport Seat Box
The Match Station GTI Sport Seat Box is a top choice for those looking to buy their very first seat box or anyone searching for a comfortable, lightweight option. Weighing a relatively lightweight 5.8Kg, this easy to transport model is definitely worth thinking about.
In terms of storage the lack of drawers does mean there isn’t as much storage space as the previous models mentioned. However, the base storage dimensions of W 41 x D 29 x H 12cm is quite large and should be adequate enough for all but the biggest of tackle hoarders.
In terms of design quality it can’t be denied that this is a sturdy and robust piece of kit. The aluminium square leg system is solid and the large hand wheels that utilize the push to lock system to secure the correct height adjustment are a doddle to use. Another positive are the 360 degree swivel mud feet which allow for a firm and stable footing.
What I like most about it though is the fact it comes with a backrest and a pretty decent one as well. This combined with the fairly thick padding of the seat makes this a comfortable seat box and one that you should have no problems with not moving your backside for hours.
To sum up, this is fantastic piece of kit offering a good mix of both quality and affordability.

Match Station AS5 Drawer Sport Seat Box
The Match Station AS5 is a versatile seat box that has been designed in a way that allows it to be used for different fishing styles. Due to its clever use of additional hinges on the base frame the base can be completely removed, converting it into a canal style seat arrangement.
It comes with a total of five drawers with four of them been on the front and a larger one on the side. With a depth of 40mm they provide adequate room for a decent amount of smaller accessories. The base storage is a good size too and can accommodate a number of reels with room to spare.
In terms of construction this is a solid and very well-built option. Like all good seat boxes the leg system is made from aluminium and is designed with large hand wheels making it easy to adjust to the desired height.
Another positive is the overall weight of only 7Kg. Considering the storage space on offer and the fact it comes with a backrest you would expect it to be heavier than it actually is.
Additional features include a standard padded shoulder strap and a pole retainer under the seat.

Choosing The Best Seat Box Under £200
When choosing a seat box there are quite a few things to first take in to consideration, especially if you are to find one that is suitable for your needs first time around. Many people make the mistake of deciding on a model based solely on the way it looks, although aesthetics are important it should not be your main consideration.
The following points should be taken in to account when deciding on your final purchasing decision. Armed with this knowledge you will be far more likely to find the right choice for you and your needs.
The amount of storage available for tackle is without doubt one of the most important factors to think about when buying. If you buy a seat box that doesn’t fit all of the tackle you need for your trip then you will no doubt be disappointed with your choice.
If you tend to go for long fishing excursions then you are going to needs plenty of compartments in the form of drawers and trays to store all of your accessories. In addition a large base storage will also be needed for storing larger items such as reels.
For the casual angler that only goes fishing for a few hours or so, a more compact seat box may be a more cost effective option. Obviously, these have less storage, but if you aren’t going to be using a lot of tackle when you go fishing you really won’t be needing a large seat box.
Most fishing seat boxes these days are made in a way that reduces the weight as much as possible. Consequently, aluminium and injection moulded plastic are the main materials used to achieve a lightweight seat box. The weight can vary from as little as a few kilograms for a standard plastic seat box and going anything up to 15Kg plus for a top rated model with all the storage space you will ever need.
Materials and Durability
The materials used and their overall quality is greatly reflected in the price of a seat box. As previously mentioned aluminium and plastic are the main materials used. The
If you are going to be fishing for hours on end then it makes sense to be as comfortable as possible while doing so. If you aren’t going to be taking a bivvy and chair with you then you want to make sure that your seat box provides as much comfort as possible.
In my experience a backrest makes a big difference and I would recommend investing in a seat box that has one.
